London fringe theatre company producing classic theatre and new plays.

7.30 p.m., Monday 26th September, Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, Malet Street London WC1. RADA Graduate New Writing Workshops present a free rehearsed reading of The Sky Was Falling by Catherine Webb.

Set in a Siberian radar station cut off from the rest of the world, The Sky Was Falling tells the story of five ordinary soldiers on the frontline of the Cold War. Their days are filled with boredom, fantasy, bickering and bureaucracy, until one of them notices a blip on their screens. Thrown from their day-to-day routine of hoarding coffee and playing cards, they have to make a decision that could change their lives, and the planet, forever – are they witness to an American nuclear attack – or is it geese? And what, if anything, are they meant to do about it?

Catherine Webb is an award-nominated novelist, who also works under the name Kate Griffin. She started writing plays while studying Technical Theatre and Stage Management at RADA, and now divides her time between writing, and working as a freelance lighting designer. Matt Beresford has recently completed his showcase production of The Ugly One at BAC for an MA in Theatre Directing, under Sarah Esdaile and Chris White. The play has been developed over the last few months with its cast of five; Nick Downes, Ian Mairs, James Owen, Matthew Haigh and Helen Terry. p.m., Monday 26th September, Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, Malet Stree
